Z-Wave Remote Control
This product was created to add simple wireless control to your connected devices. Program it to turn on your smart humidifier or shut off all lights on your way out.
It’s not an electrical switch so you can’t wire a light directly to it. The paddles on the device are like buttons on a remote control. You can assign multiple actions to each paddle for single tap, double tap, held, released, etc (up to 5-taps). Use it for simple on/off control of your smart bulbs or in more elaborate scenarios featuring multiple smart bulbs set to your favorite settings. Set the mood with a click.
This is a great alternative to voice control for a more discreet way to trigger devices and scenes. The Remote Switch can also be used with smart bulbs and switches as an additional point of control, like a virtual 3-way.
DIY Installation
Don’t worry about wiring, this is a battery-powered device that you’ll set up within minutes.
The Remote Switch comes with a magnetic base that fits any standard switch box. It can be installed next to your regular light switches so you can finally take out that mystery switch and replace it with this handy smart control.
You can also just stick this device to a wall and have a smart switch where you always wanted one. It comes with both adhesive tape and mounting screws to accommodate the type of installation that fits your needs best. A complimentary wall plate and 2 CR2032 batteries are included too.
How It Works
There are 2 different ways to program the Remote Switch on your hub. Remember to verify if your hub supports this device before purchasing.
Our method of choice to automate this device is the central scene where each paddle is treated like a button in your hub. You then assign different actions to the button trigger of your choice. Like “turn the bedroom light off when button 2 (aka bottom paddle) is pressed once”. This lets you add extra conditions to every rule and control any smart devices in your hub’s network, whether they’re Z-Wave, Zigbee, or wifi products.
Another way to use the Remote Switch is via direct association groups that allow you to turn other devices on or off and dim them remotely. The catch is that they all need to be Z-Wave devices added with the same level of security to your hub.
